Living Smart Festival is a celebration of sustainable living set on the shores of Lake Macquarie. With 30,000-plus attendees in 2019, Living Smart Festival is one of Australia’s largest sustainability-themed annual events.

The annual event showcases a range of hands-on workshops, demonstrations and speakers, featuring some of Australia’s most prominent and innovative personalities in the field of sustainability. The festival also features an engaging line-up of local community organisations driving change, sustainable markets, as well as live music, theatre and art.

The Living Smart Festival is a free community event, supporting residents to make easy lifestyle changes to live more sustainably.

Lake Macquarie City Council’s Sustainability Department delivered the inaugural festival in 2010. The festival has grown significantly in the years since and was recognised as the “Best Community Event” at the Australia Event Awards 2019.

The next Living Together Festival is scheduled for Saturday 16 September 2023.
